Sennheiser e835 Microphone Review (Update Ep124)

Sennheiser e835 Mic Review

Ross Brand with your Livestream Universe Update. Today we look at another strong candidate for best microphone under $100.

The Sennheiser e835 is dynamic, cardioid vocal microphone that is designed for on-stage use. That means it will reject noise from other speakers or band members in live or recording environments. For hosting a remote livestream or podcast, or conducting interviews at events, the e835 enables the speaker to cut through the background noise.

At $99, the e835 is also a good option as a primary host or guest mic for anyone looking for an affordable solution. While the Shure SM7B remains my studio broadcast mic of choice, I will be taking the e835 with me to events and other broadcasting environments outside the studio. It’s a durable mic that sounds good right of the box on many voices, making the Sennheiser e835 an excellent microphone for remote livestreams, mobile podcasts and on-stage speaking engagements.

Shure SM58: A Podcast Microphone That’s Affordable, Versatile and Durable (Update Ep123)

Shure SM58 Mike Murphy Simplecast

Ross Brand with your Livestream Universe Update for Tuesday, February 19th, 2019.

Our discussion of podcasting microphones tends to focus on either inexpensive USB mics for beginners or those heavier, more expensive studio mics in the $300+ range.

But there are good microphone options available for those who have a mixer, audio interface or recorder…and don’t want to spend over $100 on a microphone.

Mike Murphy works on the support team at Simplecast and sings the praises of the affordable, versatile and durable Shure SM58.

Thanks Mike. You can learn more about Mike Murphy and his gear recommendations at MikeMurphy.co.

Later this week, we will look at another solid option in the same microphone class: the Sennheiser e835.

Updates on Tuesdays and Fridays. For LivestreamUniverse.com, I’m Ross Brand. Have a great day!
