Telestream has just released the beta version of Wirecast 9. It includes x-key controller integration, a redesign of the menu for adding sources, and a set-and-forget workflow that requires minimal configuration before each broadcast. Derral Eves Launches Video Makers Show on Facebook Watch (Update Ep38)

More live streamers are expanding their production skills from strictly going live to YouTube video creation. And VidSummit Founder Derral Eves has a new show targeting those wanting to rapidly grow their YouTube channel in 2018. Yesterday, he launched Video Makers and Marketers on Facebook Watch. The debut episode featured Stephen and Carter Sharer, who talked about how they went from zero to 2 million subscribers in just over a year.

ESPN has a new streaming service called ESPN Plus expected to launch on April 12th. Subscribers will pay $4.99 per month for access to thousands of live sporting events and original programming. TechCrunch reports the ESPN app will add a special live streaming section with access to the company’s cable channels.

Bleacher Report is partnering with the NBA to sell live-streaming broadcasts of in-progress basketball games at reduced rates. The NBA recently tested the concept by offered fourth quarter livestreams for 99 cents, Expect to see the full roll out by Bleacher Report for the 2018-19 NBA season.

Livestreamers and podcasters are forever discussing what’s the best mic to get, but less attention is typically paid to the pre-amps those mics are plugged into. On Ask the Podcast Coach, Dave Jackson talked about what to look for in a mixer or audio interface.

Jackson’s co-host Jim Collison identified the importance of trying out audio gear to see what works best with your mic and voice.

Of course if all this seems complicated to new live streamers, there are USB mics that plug right into your computer.

NBC News took home the Digiday Award for “Best Use of Facebook Live” for it’s “Chase the Total Solar Eclipse with Us” coverage. Mario Armstrong’s Never Settle Show was among 5 finalists for the Award out of more than two thousand submissions. Two more shots at the big prize for Mario and company… Season One of the Never Settle Show has also been nominated for Two Emmy Awards. The Gala is April 14th in New York City.

Emmy Nominee Cathy Hackl is bringing the Mixed Reality Marketing Summit to New York City on September 6. The one-day conference features keynotes and panels from some of the world’s leading voices in MR marketing and technology.

Award nominations keep pouring in for Mario Armstrong’s groundbreaking Never Settle Show. Tonight it’s the DigiDay Awards, where the Never Settle Show presented by Nasdaq is up for Best Use of Facebook Live. The Digiday Awards honor the most creative content from brands, marketers and publishers. Competition is tough in the Facebook Live category — other nominees include NBC News, Refinery 29, Ball is life and Bleacher Report’s NFL Draft Show.

This week’s Best of BeLive winner is the Royal Caribbean Blog founded by Matt Hochberg, who livestreams daily on Facebook Live using the BeLive.tv platform. Matt says cruises make the best vacations.
